You can add a custom display name and signature to your Proton Mail messages.

Set a display name

Your display name (or sender name) is what recipients see in the From field when you send them a message.

You don’t have to set one. If you leave your display name blank, recipients will usually just see your email address instead.

How to add or edit your display name

  1. Sign in to account.proton.me. Go to Settings → All settings.
  2. Select Identity and addresses from the sidebar and scroll to Display name and signature.
  3. Enter your display name and click Update.

If you have multiple email addresses, you can add a different display name for each one. Just click Email address and select the address you want from the menu.

Set an email signature

Your email signature appears at the end of your messages.

When you set an email signature for an address, it becomes your default signature. However, you can change or remove it for any individual message you send.

How to add or edit your email signature

  1. Sign in to account.proton.me. Go to Settings → All settings.
  2. Select Identity and addresses from the sidebar and scroll to Display name and signature.
  3. Add your signature and click Update.

If you have multiple email addresses, you can set a different signature for each one. Just click Email address and select the address you want from the menu.

Format your email signature

You can also add custom formatting to your signature.

Use the toolbar under the signature field to customize text style, size, and color. You can also add images, lists, quotes, and more.

For your recipients to see images in your signature, they’ll need to have load remote content enabled in their email provider settings.

You can also use a third-party email signature builder

Here’s how to import a formatted signature from a third-party service (like HubSpot’s email signature builder(nova janela)*):

  1. Copy your formatted signature text from the third-party builder (this can be text or code).
  2. Sign in to account.proton.me and go to Identity and addresses in Settings.
  3. Paste your signature into the Signature field.
  4. Click Update to save.
